DeNiro [17 Sep 2004|05:05pm]

[ mood | hot ]

I was just wondering if anyone else was a huge Robert De Niro fan like I am?

If so, what are some of your favorite movies he's been in and favorite quotes? And if you don't like him. I'd like to try and understand why not?

My name is Laura and I'm twenty years old. I've been a bit of a film geek for as long as I can remember so I thought I'd join.

Some of my all-time favourite films (in no particular order):

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Fight Club
American History X
Indiana Jones Trilogy
West Side Story
The Sound of Music
The King and I
Forrest Gump
Moulin Rouge
Citizen Kane
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Dracula (the original from the 1920's)
The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin)

Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I know, but.... [16 Sep 2004|03:10pm]

So I know that Jen and Ben arent together anymore, but I was wondering why everyone hated the couple soooo much. I mean, when they were together a lot of people just wouldnt even really give them a chance...(or at least it seemed that way). For example, the movie Gigli. I am not saying that the movie was a good one, but to be honest it wasnt the worst movie that i have ever seen in my life. I have seen a lot of bad movies, and Gigli wouldnt be on my top five. Anyway, I just think that if we were to hate anyone it should be the stupid media. The media put those two in the spotlight soooo much, and yes, of course we are going to get tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. In conclusion, we shouldnt think of ben and jen any less just because they were in this big huge "media frenzy", or whatever the hell you want to call it. Its not like they liked being on every magazine, entertainment news, and minds all the time.

Just a little something that I have always had on my mind.

I just joined. Thought I should probably tell a bit about myself and name some of my favorite flicks.

I'll watch any movie out there. I prefer suspense and drama the most though.

There are a lot of good flicks out there and I try to watch as many movies as I can. They are more than something that keeps my mind occupied for a couple hours. Movies are definitely a huge part of my life. I just like to watch and analyze. Watch the actors. Watch the camera movements and angles.

Favorite movies:
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Taxi Driver (1976)
Raging Bull (1980)
A Christmas Story (1983)
The Breakfast Club (1985)
Stand By Me (1986)
Goodfellas (1990)
Reservoir Dogs (1992)-Just saw that today. Must say, it fuckin’ kicks ass, can’t believe it took me so long to finally watch it.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Jackie Brown (1997)
American History X (1998)
The Green Mile (1999)

-Pulp Fiction could be on this list…I need to watch it again though. When I watched it the first time I wasn’t really paying attention cause I was having extreme pains shooting up my legs.

That’s just a few. There are so many others that kick ass. I hate movies that are out now days though. The most recent movie I’ve seen that I really cared for was “Mystic River”.

Most overrated movie of all time (Fight Club)

The highly overated [14 Sep 2004|07:14pm]

Here is a list of five movies that I think that are overated.

5) Billy Madison -Happy Gilmour is 10 time better than Billy. To be honest I think that Happy Gilmour is the only good movie that Adam Sandler has made.

4) Bruce Almighty -Now, I dont think that the movie is bad, but I dont think that it was really good either. There was like one funny part, and the rest of it was just okay. I expected more out Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman.

3) Austin Powers (1 through 3) -I think that the movie is only funny once. It is not something that I believe people should own, or start quoting from. The comedy that is in it is... well....so not clever.

2) Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the new one) -First of all, I am not a fan of "scary movies" because they are never scary. Usually when I start a movie, I finish it. It doesnt matter how bad it is, but I couldnt finish this one at all. It was sooo dumb and the killer looked like silly putty.

1) Dirty Dancing -I think that Flashdance is ten times better than Dirty Dancing. I really dont see what all the fuss is with about. Its not that good. Good soundtrack...yes, but other than that... It sucks.
7 know something | So what do you know?

this is what i want to call six degrees of seperation. (SDOS) [14 Sep 2004|03:19pm]

Okay I will name two actors, and you have to link the two through other actors and movies. Make sure that you keep it under six.

For example: Sean Penn and Morgan Freeman
Sean Penn was in "Mystic River" with Tim Robbins, who was also in "Shawshank Redemption" with Morgan Freeman.
That would count as two. Anyway you try, and try not to look at the other comments.

Julia Roberts and Val Kilmer

Good Luck
